Domelands/Wind Caves -Anza Borrego Desert Backpacking

We will  hike about 3.5 miles to our basecamp with 800' elevation loss/gain. We'll explore this ancient sea bed, a rich dense area of shell fragments and sea donuts that was once under the ocean waters. From there we’ll hike along a dry creek bed, through canyons and up a few dry waterfalls that will require some climbing skills. We will be off trail and rock scrambling therefore, good balance is a must! Be prepared for loose rock, narrow ridges and challenging dry waterfalls

San Gorgonio Mountain (Backpacking)

San Gorgonio Mountain, also known locally as Mount San Gorgonio, or Old Greyback, is the highest peak in Southern California and the Transverse Ranges at 11,503 feet (3,506 m). It is in the San Bernardino Mountains, 27 miles (43 km) east of the city of San Bernardino and 12 miles (19 km) north-northeast of San Gorgonio Pass. It lies within the San Gorgonio Wilderness, part of the San Bernardino National Forest. Spanish missionaries in the area during the early 17th century named the peak after Saint Gorgonius.
